Getting StartedFrom a fresh Wayfarer to your first job; the first few hours, step by step.
Welcome to Skybound, an MMO set across a drifting archipelago of floating islands. Everyone begins the same way: a Wayfarer in the town of Dawnhaven, and the whole early game builds toward one milestone: reaching Level 15 and choosing a real job. Here’s exactly how to get there.
0 · The first minute
Opening Skybound plays a short intro cinematic over the sign-in screen. There is a Skip button, and it starts muted with a Sound on button beside it. It plays once per visit: refreshing the page will not replay it, closing the tab or the app and coming back will.
Once you are in the world with a new hero, a guided opening runs before the game hands you over. Five beats, one thing to do each:
Move
You wake at Dawnhaven’s south gate with a waypoint chip pointing at Mira. Walking up the avenue to her is the whole beat, and it is how you see the town.
Talk
Mira tells you where you are and what happened to you. Everyone in Dawnhaven fell out of the sky; you are not special about it.
Fight
A straw target stands a few paces from her. Land three hits on it. That is targeting and attacking, the two things everything else is built on.
Heal
Eat one of the sweets in your bag while nothing is chasing you, so your hands know how before something is.
Go
The HUD comes back whole and Mira offers First Steps, the first quest of the ordinary chain.
1 · Create your hero
Pick a body type and a name (3+ characters, unique). You’re dropped into Dawnhaven, the frontier sanctuary, already wearing a starter kit: a Wooden Sword, a basic all-class outfit, and a few First Refreshers and Lollipops. Everything you start with is soul-bound: it can’t be traded or sold, so you can’t accidentally get rid of it.
You start with 250 Glint (the game’s currency), and stats of STR 15 · STA 15 · DEX 15 · INT 15.
2 · Get your bearings in Dawnhaven
Dawnhaven is a safe town: nothing attacks you here. It’s built as a radial hub: an octagonal plaza with a Town Statue at the centre and avenues running out to each gate. Everything you need is a short walk away.
Say hello to Mira
Mira, the Town Greeter is who the guided opening walks you to, and she starts your first quest chain afterwards. Look for the gold “!” floating over her head: that means she has a quest to give. Her chain walks you into the Wilds and teaches the basics.
Find the essentials
Weapon & Armor Merchants, the Apothecary (potions), the Bank (Halden), Torren the Blacksmith (gear upgrades), and the Masters’ Hall (your future job) are all in town. See the full NPC directory.
3 · Head to the Wilds and start hunting
Talk to Elder Rowan in the plaza: he’s a Waystone Keeper who’ll send you to The Wilds, the Lv 1–21 starter zone. You arrive at Orin’s Rest. Fan out and fight the local wildlife.
- Targeting: click a monster to select it (cyan ring), click again to engage (red ring); your hero walks up and auto-attacks. Or press Tab to grab the nearest one.
- Your skills: the number keys 1–0 fire whatever sits on your hotbar row, and a newly learned skill drops itself into the first free slot. A Wayfarer’s first is Clean Hit at Level 3.
- Stay at-level: monsters far below your level give almost no XP (the level-gap rule). Follow the terraced bands north as you grow: Verdant Flats (Lv 1–3) → Briar Meadow → Stonebrook Vale → Wolf Hollow → Bloomridge → Dread Highlands (Lv 17–21).
4 · Spend your points as you level
Every level grants +2 stat points and some skill points (2 per level up to Lv 20). A quick primer:
| Stat | What it does | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| STR | Melee attack power | Vanguard (sword/axe) |
| STA | HP, FP, and defense | Everyone: survivability |
| DEX | Ranged attack, crit, attack speed | Skydancer (bow: yo-yo skills want STR) |
| INT | MP, magic attack, spell damage, heal power | Channeler & Oracle |
Don’t overthink it early: a few points in STA keeps you alive, and you can plan a full build once you pick a job. Full detail on the Stats & Attributes page.
5 · Reach Level 15 and choose your job
This is the milestone. When you hit Level 15, a gold prompt appears: “Choose your Job: seek a Master at the Masters’ Hall.” Return to Dawnhaven. The four Masters each offer a trial quest:
| Master | Job | Trial |
|---|---|---|
| Master Aldric | Vanguard | Kill 10 Brindlefang + collect 5 Proof of Valor from Thumper |
| Perrin | Skydancer | Collect 8 Windfeather from Fuzzwing/Dawnflit |
| Elen | Oracle | Collect 6 Vein of Light from Frondling |
| Mirae | Channeler | Collect 6 Ember Mote from Mopetail |
There’s no instant class change and no pop-up picker; you actually earn it. Accepting a trial begins the path; completing it at the Master is what flips your class, lifts your level cap to 60, and grants a big one-time bundle of skill points. Read each job’s playstyle first on the Classes page.
6 · Where to go next
Grind to 60
With a job in hand you push on through Duskmoor (21–39) and The Shattered Garden (40–59), and finish in The Rustfall (60–70).
Gear up & enhance
Hunt gear, then reinforce it at Torren’s Forge. Farm upgrade stones from Catchers with the Ultra Collector.
Join the world
Fly (from Lv 5), form a guild (at Lv 15), test yourself in the Arena, and chase the caged god in the Sunforge endgame.
