Glint & EconomyEarning and spending the realm’s coin, and the Relic system that keeps rare gear rare.

Glint the Glint coin is Skybound’s currency. You start with 250 and earn more from kills, quests and selling. It buys gear, potions, flight mounts, travel scrolls and enhancement attempts. Here’s the full picture.

Consumables at a glance

Recovery items are level-banded when they drop; a Lv 1 monster gives Lollipops, not a feast. The ladders:

HP: Food 2.5s cd

Lollipop (70) → … → Star Candy (1,200). Cheap, spammy topping-up.

HP: Pills 10s cd

Gray (1,200) → Red (8,000) → Shining Gold Pill (18,000). Big emergency bursts.

MP & FP

Refreshers restore MP (aether); Vital Drinks restore FP. Both cheap and quick (1.5s).

Premium recovery exists too: Remantis Laccotte (full HP instantly), Refresher Hold (unlimited MP for 60 min) and Vital Drink X (unlimited FP for 60 min).

The Cash Shop & premium currency

The premium currency is Crown, sold from Vesper’s Premium Shop. It stocks convenience and cosmetics: protect/smelting scrolls, premium recovery, fashion costume boxes, cosmetic masks, flag cloaks, premium flight mounts, the five looter pets, and the Ultra Collector.

Crown is its own currency. The Cash Shop charges Crown, not Glint. Glint buys everything a Merchant, an Apothecary or a Blacksmith sells; Crown buys what Vesper sells, and the two never convert into each other.

Buying Crown

the Crown mark Crown is bought on Solana, from the Buy Crown panel in Vesper’s shop. There is no card and no subscription: you ask for an amount, the shop writes an invoice, you pay it, and the Crown lands.

One Crown is one US cent, so 100 Crown is $1, in every currency. You can pay with:

USDC or SOL

Priced in dollars and paid in the token. An invoice runs from $1 up to $10,000.

$SKY +10%

Skybound’s own token. The same dollar buys 10% more Crown: pay $10 in $SKY and 1,100 Crown is credited instead of 1,000.

The bonus is extra Crown credited, not a discount on what you are charged. What you pay is the dollar price either way.

$SKY, the game’s token

$SKY is Skybound’s own token on Solana. It has a fixed supply, minted once, with no mint authority: nobody can print more of it afterwards, the studio included.

You cannot earn it by playing, and that is deliberate

$SKY is never dropped, never farmed and never emitted. No monster carries it, no quest pays it, and no amount of grinding produces any. Nor is there a way to convert Glint into Crown or into $SKY: the two economies do not meet, and the old Glint-to-Crown exchange was removed rather than capped.

That is the rule that keeps the game a game. The moment grinding turns into dollars, the reason to play stops being play, and the people who out-earn you are the ones running scripts overnight. Glint buys from players and from shops, and that is all Glint ever does.

What it is actually for

Buying Crown +10%

The till takes crypto and nothing else, so every Crown purchase is a real buy of the token. Paying in $SKY credits 10% more Crown for the same dollar: $10 gives you 1,100 Crown instead of 1,000. The dollar price never changes, only what lands in your account.

The Ascended market’s currency

Every sale on the Ascended market settles in $SKY. Sellers list in dollars and buyers pay the equivalent at the market rate, so nobody has to price an item in a moving token, and the token is what actually changes hands.

You never need it to play. The whole game, to the level cap and through everything in it, without touching $SKY once. It sits at the boundary where real money crosses in, and nowhere else: USDC and SOL buy Crown just as well, at the same dollar price. It matters only if you decide to trade ascended items.
Why crypto and not a card. Settlement is final, so there are no chargebacks: no stolen card buying resellable goods, no dispute landing weeks later. That is why nothing you buy carries a holding period or a trade lock. Buy a costume, wear it for an hour, ascend it and sell it if you like.

Skypass

Skypass is a 30-day pass, bought with Crown from Vesper’s shop for 999 Crown. Buying another while one is still live extends it rather than replacing it, so renewing early never costs you the days you already paid for.

A Skypass never sells power. It will not make you hit harder, level faster or find better loot. Everything it grants is room to trade and a break on the mint:

What you getFreeWith a Skypass
Stall uptime (how long your market stall stays open)4 hours3 days
Stall slots (how many things it can hold)1224
Free Ascensions each weeknone4

Your expiry is shown in the panel, counting down in hours on the last day.

Earning Crown in Closed Beta

During Closed Beta the way to earn Crown is to find what is broken. File a report in-game; if it is confirmed, Crown is recorded at your name and held until Open Beta, where it becomes spendable.

Two things worth knowing about how it is held. It lives in its own ledger rather than as a number on your account, so a beta wipe cannot clear it. And each report earns at most one award, so the first person to report an issue is the one it pays.

Relics: why rare gear is truly rare

Rare, Unique and Legendary equipment is Relic-grade. When one drops, the game decides whether it mints as a tradeable Relic or a bound (untradeable) copy: through three gates:

  • Season quota

A world-wide cap on tradeable Relics per season (default 500). When it’s full, further drops mint as bound.

  • Daily mint cap

At most 3 sellable Relics per account per day.

  • Earned eligibility

You must be genuinely invested, Level 15+, real playtime, never a fresh alt. Fails these and the item still drops and works; it’s just Bound.

  • The point: a tradeable rare is a scarce, earned thing, so the market stays meaningful. You always get and can use the gear you find; only its tradeable version is rationed.

Drops aren’t auto-collected: hover to see a tooltip, click to walk over and grab (or send a looter pet). Rare+ finds show a “◈ Relic-grade: quota-gated on pickup” hint.

Ascension: taking an item out of the game

An ascended item outlives the character. It is minted into your own wallet, not held on your account, so it is yours whatever happens to the hero who earned it. That includes a beta wipe: the character goes, the item stays.

Ascending an item mints it as a real asset in your own wallet on Solana, in the Skybound Ascended collection. It leaves the Glint economy for good and becomes something you can sell to another player for $SKY. Ascension costs Crown.

What can go, and what never can

    Rare, Unique, Legendary

The only grades that may ascend, and only in their tradeable Relic form. Commons and uncommons are most of what drops and are excluded outright.

    Cash Shop cosmetics free

Masks, cloaks and costumes ascend for nothing and do not use up a weekly slot. They were paid for at the till, so charging again would be charging twice.

    Consumables never

Potions, scrolls and refreshers can never ascend, at any price. Crown into a scroll into a sale would make Crown cashable, and it is a prepaid credit, not a deposit.

    The weekly fee ladder

The fee climbs with each item you ascend in a week, then flattens. It is a brake on mass production rather than a toll, which is why it resets on the clock and not on a counter: the week rolls over at midnight UTC on Sunday, and time is the one thing a bot farm cannot buy more of.

    This week’sFeeRoughly
    1st item200 Crown$2
    2nd item300 Crown$3
    3rd item600 Crown$6
    4th and after1,200 Crown$12, flat

A Skypass makes your first four each week free. They are not extra goes: the free four replace the rungs above rather than being added in front of them, so a subscriber never meets the climbing part at all. Their week reads free, free, free, free, 1,200 against 200, 300, 600, 1,200, 1,200. Five items in one week is 1,200 Crown with a pass and 3,500 without.

    The Ascended market

Ascended items are bought and sold at marketplace.skyboundmmo.com. It runs as its own service, separate from the game, so it stays open through every world restart and every deploy.

You list in dollars, and it settles in $SKY

Put a price on your item in USD. That tag holds still for as long as the listing sits there, so a mask you listed on Monday still says what you meant on Friday. The payment is $SKY: when a buyer presses Buy, the rate is read once and they get a quote good for sixty seconds to open their wallet and sign.

Both legs are the token. The buyer pays $SKY and the seller receives $SKY, and neither of you has to think in it. Splitting the two jobs is the point: a price tag has to hold still for weeks, a payment only has to hold still for a minute.

Why it is the only place

Ascended items are minted frozen, so they cannot be traded anywhere else. That is deliberate and it is the studio's half of the bargain: it is what makes the settlement fee collectable, and what pays for ascension being worth having.

    What a sale costs

A 2.5% settlement fee on the sale price, plus a 2.5% royalty recorded on chain against the item itself. Both go to the treasury, and both come out of the $SKY that changes hands. You spend no SOL to sell. The studio covers the network's own fees, so you never need a second currency in your wallet just to take a listing down or get paid.

The market never asks you to trust it with your keys. It builds each transaction and you sign it, and it refuses to broadcast anything that is not the transaction it built. Listing and delisting need the owner's signature; buying needs the buyer's.
